the upcycled story

In June of 2021 I decided to make candles and as I mapped out how I would go about doing this it occurred to me that the glass yogurt jars that I had been saving for "something" would be the perfect container.  The catch was that I only had six of them.

A few months prior, maybe a year, I had a lot of those jars but decided to recycle them because I had not use for them.  In my mind everything about that statement (the saving them AND the decision to let them go) made perfect sense.  If you have ever gotten the yogurt in the fancy glass jars there is a very good chance that you have had the same though and possibly gone through the same exercise as me.  In fairness, even if I had kept them all I would not have had enough.  I needed more jars.  So I posted in a facebook group asking for jars and to my complete surprise multiple strangers offered up jars; some asked what for, others were probably happy to get rid of some of these "good jars" for which they had no use.

The way that so many strangers stepped up to help my cause really touched me.  As I made my first batch of candles an idea started brewing, which quickly took form.  I always knew that I wanted a philanthropic aspect to my company as well as environmentally responsible practices, and this was a great idea that would honor both.  For every upcycled jar candle sold $1 is donated to charity.

Each upcycled jar is collected, thoroughly cleaned and prepped to become a candle vessel by me, as helô company grows I may need to move beyond the yogurt jars but it will be replaced not abandoned.

The upcycled candles have some of the newer or more experimental scents.  This is were most of our scents get their start, and I love that because it is where I got mine too.
